Start safely
Choose the symptom you can see
Recovery should never require deleting a draft or repeatedly applying an uncertain result.
No selection bar
Reselect a focused editable passage
Release the selection gesture and keep the page focused. In the extension, confirm the popup is connected and on; refresh a tab opened before installation.
Result did not apply
Check the source before trying again
The editor refuses stale or moved ranges. Reselect the current words. In Google Docs or Word, inspect the document first because host confirmation can be delayed.
Copy instead of replace
The host is using its safe fallback
Paste the copied result manually. Read-only text, Word Online, Teams, WhatsApp, and uncertain targets may intentionally use this path.
Draft is missing
Clear the selection and place the cursor
Draft begins from a caret rather than a selected passage. In the web editor, choose a blank position; in the extension, open the Revise wand.
Proofread is unavailable
Add writing and check the action state
Proofread is disabled on an empty document. A quota or connection message explains when an AI pass cannot begin.
Couldn’t save
Use the visible retry action
Desktop shows retry in the editor rail; mobile places it in the document drawer. Keep the draft open until Saved returns.
Extension
Reconnect without losing the page
- 1
Open the extension popup
If it says disconnected, choose Connect and sign in to your Revise account. - 2
Check the switch
A connected extension can still be turned off. Turn the button on and wait for the ready status. - 3
Refresh the current tab once
This reloads Revise on a page that was already open. Then reselect the text rather than reusing a stale selection.
Replay or ask
Return to the guidance first
- In the web editor, open How to use Revise from the desktop settings menu or mobile document drawer.
- In the extension, open the popup and choose How to use Revise.
- If the same problem continues, email [email protected] with the surface, site, and exact status message.
